Hello All,

i just discover commander4j and find that this software seems to be really advanced. Also, from my side, i install this (with sql server under windows, for test system) and now, i would like to start using this

My idea would be to be able to generate some labels for cartons which are on pallet and be able to get a report out of this. From my side, i need specific labels per product and also be able to have some specific date format on the label.

Is there any people to help me to go on this way ? The idea, if it can be used later, could be to write down a tutorial for this

Hi Philippe,

I am trying to keep the application simple to use, but the initial setup of the base data can take a little thinking about. Most implementations that I know of point to SAP systems and as such some of the terms used and ways of structuring the data a based on the SAP way of doing things.

If you can email me a scanned label (or a selection if you use different layouts then I can see what type of data you will need to record and provide some screen dumps of the application which shows how it can be done.

I would suggest, for the purposes of testing and evaluation that you go through the base data setup in the following sequence

Setup 1 location for your factory/plant, you might want more than 1 location if you want to despatch product and generate paperwork.

After that, create a material and define the units of measure in which it exists.

With the UOM’s you need to define how many units are on a pallet, so you can use the example data on the website if it’s easier.

If you make labels that have different customer names on them you should use this screen to define some. Note the special one called SELF which should be your company name.

Then, you need to define a Process Order in order to “make” and print labels for the material you have created.

At this point there are a number of system keys we will need to adjust relating to the format of the “Batch Number” (if you want one) printed. SSCC ranges etc.

Finally the reports can be generated in 2 possible ways, the first method is for laser printers and will let you view the output on screen as a preview. For ZPL printers you need to change a setting in the Modules screen - but that’s the next step.
